Royal Birmingham Society of Artists

I'm thrilled that the @rbsagallery have selected "Finch II" to be part of their annual summer exhibition. It means such a lot to be selected for exhibitions and to be exhibiting alongside artists I really admire. As a newbie in the art world it can be quite daunting working away not really knowing what an audience will make of it all. Thats why it's wonderful that organisations like the RBSA give us opportunities to show in grown up spaces! I have had plenty of rejections over the last year. Once upon a time the rejection would have floored me and my fragile ego would have given up! That's the beauty of getting older - I don't give a damn - I'm able to shrug it off and think "it's not personal and there are plenty of other opportunities". The only advice I can pass on to other people on a similar journey is to embrace your own weirdness rather than making work that you think other people will approve of.
