Project : Together We Rise. Divided We Fall
The recent riots in Teesside towns reminded me of a quote
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing."
Teesside communities didn't do nothing - they demonstrated proud resistance, turning up in large numbers to clean up after the riot destruction. However, creating lasting change requires consistent and ambitious goals from all quarters.
Art has the power to inspire change. It's not just about creating beautiful pieces; it's about starting movements, uniting communities, and changing hearts and minds. We're a group of artists wanting to create a beacon of hope. Proving that when we combine creativity with a strong purpose, we can make a difference.
What are we planning?
We will create a vibrant, collaborative art piece arranged in a grid. It will be a vast body of individual artworks and a collective expression of community. It will feature portraits of inspirational Teessiders, along with abstract and text-based artworks that reflect the diversity and unity of the Teesside community.
Who will make it?
Artists, students, budding creatives and community groups will collaborate to create the artwork, ensuring that everyone has a voice in this project. It's designed to be accessible and inclusive for everyone to share.
What Will We Do With It?
It will be featured in various formats, from a public art mural on a house gable end to items such as t-shirts, tote bags, postcards, and stickers. It will also be in a gallery space and auctioned off. This is not just about creativity and community it's about raising funds for inclusivity projects. It's also designed to be accessible and inclusive for everyone to share.

Over the next few months we will be refining plans and organising production.
